Liao, Shuo-peng 廖碩鵬

Who am I? (Resume)

I am a research assistant in Web Knowledge Discovery Lab., led by Dr. Lee-Feng Chien, in Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica. I got my M.S. and B.S. in Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering , National Taiwan University. My advisor of master's thesis is Dr. Lin-Shan Lee.

I am interested in various areas of computer science, including Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Chinese Language Processing and Speech Recognition, etc. I am also experienced in programming and got First prize of Trend Micro Software Competition 2001 (Chinese link). I am now focusing on mining something interesting on the Web.

• Information Retrieval Interested in timeline generation, taxonomy construction, document similarity measurement, and image search-result organization.
• Machine Learning Interested in Support Vector Machine and its application.
• Chinese Language Processing Interested in statistical language processing, especially Chinese word segmentation and new word extraction.
